Description

Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA)

Location: Handsworth, Birmingham

Hours: Term Time Only, Monday to Friday, 9am – 5pm

Salary: £28,000

We are currently recruiting for a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join a brand-new education provision opening in Handsworth, Birmingham.

This provision will sit on the site of a six-bed children’s home, supporting young children who have experienced complex trauma. The service is being launched by a well-established care provider who already operates multiple children’s homes across the West Midlands and Northamptonshire. This education setting is their first of many planned provisions across the organisation.

This is a unique opportunity to be part of something from the very beginning – helping shape a therapeutic and nurturing learning environment for children with a range of special educational needs.

Key Responsibilities

* Support the delivery of tailored learning programmes to meet individual needs

* Work alongside the Provision Lead and therapists to promote emotional and academic development

* Track and monitor pupil progress in line with EHCPs

* Assist in planning, preparation, and behaviour support

* Promote a safe, inclusive and trauma-informed learning space

Essential Requirements

* HLTA qualification or equivalent

* Significant experience working with children with SLCN and ASD

* Knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice and EHCP processes

* Experience in a school or therapeutic education setting

* Strong communication skills and a child-centred approach

This role offers an excellent opportunity to help shape the future of education for children who deserve stability, empathy, and a fresh start. You’ll be part of a passionate and supportive team with a shared vision to deliver education that truly makes a difference
