Description

How would you like to get paid for five days, but only work four?

At Outcomes First Group, we believe in better work/life balance — and we’re putting wellbeing first.

That’s why we’re proud to be part of a 4-Day Working Week (4DWW) trial, where you can work one day less each week (or equivalent hours), while still receiving your full-time pay.

Many of our schools have already introduced the 4DWW — and others are preparing to roll it out as soon as they reach full staffing. So whether it’s already in place or just around the corner, now’s the perfect time to join #teamOFG.

Job title: Head of English

Location: Westbourne School, Sutton in Ashfield, NG17 2EL

Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday

Salary: Up to £42 000.00 per annum (not pro rata)

Contract: Permanent, Term Time only

Start: January 2026

UK Applicants only. This role does not offer sponsorship.

As part of our continued growth, we are thrilled to offer a fantastic opportunity for a Head of English to join our close-knit and passionate team at Westbourne School, part of Acorn Education. This is a chance to make a real difference in the lives of our pupils while shaping the future of English teaching in a vibrant and supportive school community.

About the Role

In this exciting position, you will lead the planning and delivery of English lessons and support learning across the wider curriculum. At Westbourne, teachers are encouraged to take a creative and innovative approach, working collaboratively with support staff to ensure lessons are engaging, effective, and tailored to each pupil. You will be responsible for setting clear vision and targets for pupil success, monitoring progress, providing feedback, and fostering a culture of responsibility and pride in learning. Experience delivering phonics is a plus, and a willingness to embrace innovative teaching methods is highly valued.

Who we are looking for

We seek a passionate and committed professional who values both academic achievement and the social and emotional development of pupils. You will support pupils to become confident, capable, and responsible citizens who can positively contribute to their communities. A strong understanding of SEMH and ASD is essential to form meaningful relationships and adapt to pupils’ needs. We are looking for someone with determination, resilience, and a genuine passion for professional growth and excellence in teaching.
