Description

Are you looking to start a rewarding career in education? Do you want to gain valuable classroom experience while making a genuine difference to the lives of children and young people?

We are recruiting SEN Teaching Assistants to work within welcoming and supportive specialist schools across Gloucestershire. These schools support pupils with a range of Special Educational Needs (SEN), including Autism, SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs), ADHD, Dyslexia and moderate learning difficulties. Every day brings new challenges, but also the opportunity to make a lasting impact by helping students overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential.

This is an excellent opportunity for graduates, aspiring teachers, youth workers, support workers, sports coaches or anyone passionate about working with children. No previous school experience is essential – the most important qualities are patience, resilience, enthusiasm and a genuine desire to support young people.

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you'll work alongside experienced teachers and support staff, providing both 1:1 and small group support. You'll help students engage in lessons, build confidence, develop social skills and encourage positive behaviour in a safe and nurturing environment.

Your responsibilities will include:

Supporting pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups.Assisting with classroom activities and adapting learning to meet individual needs.Encouraging positive behaviour and promoting emotional wellbeing.Building strong, trusting relationships with pupils and staff.Supporting students with Autism, SEMH, ADHD, Dyslexia and additional learning needs.Helping create a safe, inclusive and engaging learning environment.Working closely with teachers and other professionals to support each student's progress.

We're looking for someone who:

Has a passion for working with children and young people. Is patient, resilient and able to remain calm under pressure.Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Can build positive relationships and act as a positive role model. Is reliable, enthusiastic and eager to learn.Holds a full UK driving licence and has access to a vehicle (preferred due to school locations). This role is the perfect first step for anyone considering a career in teaching, educational psychology, speech and language therapy, occupational therapy or other child–centred professions. You'll gain invaluable experience within a specialist SEN setting while receiving ongoing support from both the school and Prospero Teaching.

If you're looking for a role where every day is different and your work has a real impact, we'd love to hear from you.
