Food Technician - Skills for Life

Location: Carew Academy, Wallington, Surrey

Salary: £500 per week during probation, rising to £25,549 per annum upon successful completion of probation

Contract: Full Time, Term Time Only (plus INSET days)

Affinity Partnerships is recruiting on behalf of Orchard Hill College & Academy Trust for a Food Technician to join the Skills for Life team at Carew Academy, a specialist school supporting children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced and compassionate individual who is passionate about food education and helping young people develop the practical skills needed for greater independence in everyday life.

The Role

Working alongside teaching staff, you will support the delivery of practical food and cooking lessons, preparing ingredients and resources, maintaining a safe and hygienic kitchen environment, and assisting students during activities. You will play an important role in helping learners build confidence, independence and essential life skills.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare ingredients, equipment and resources for lessons.

Support students during practical food and cooking activities.

Maintain high standards of food hygiene and kitchen safety.

Monitor and manage stock levels.

Support risk assessments and health & safety procedures.

Maintain a clean, organised and welcoming learning environment.

About You

Experience working with children or young people with SEND is essential.

Experience in catering, hospitality, food preparation, food technology or a similar setting.

Food Hygiene qualification (or willingness to obtain one).

Excellent organisational and communication skills.

Patient, supportive and able to build positive relationships with students.

A team player committed to helping young people achieve their full potential.
