Job Advert: Teaching Assistant (EYFS) – Full Time (Term Time Only)

Start Date: September 2026

Location: Burnley

We are seeking a caring, patient and committed Teaching Assistant to join our Early Years team at a welcoming and well-regarded mainstream primary school in Burnley.

This full-time, term-time role will focus on providing dedicated support for children in EYFS who are not yet school ready and are in the early stages of a SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) assessment or diagnosis. It is a rewarding opportunity for someone who is passionate about helping young children settle, develop confidence, and access learning in a nurturing environment.

About the Role

You will work closely with the class teacher and SENCo to support individual children and small groups, helping them to build routines, develop communication skills and engage positively with school life. Much of the role will involve supporting social, emotional and behavioural needs alongside early learning.

What We’re Looking For

We are looking for someone who:

Has experience working with young children, ideally within EYFS

Has a good understanding of child development and early learning

Is calm, compassionate and able to build strong relationships with pupils

Has some knowledge or experience of supporting children with additional needs, including SEND (desirable but not essential)

Is flexible, proactive and willing to learn

Works well as part of a team and communicates effectively with staff and families

This is a full-time, term-time only post, starting in September 2026.
