The Role

We are seeking a caring, forward–thinking leader to join our team as Deputy Headteacher with Teaching Responsibilities. In this role, you will:

Ensure high–quality teaching and learning across the school, with a focus on inclusion and differentiated instruction for SEND studentsAssess, monitor, record and report on the learning needs, progress and achievements of pupils, working alongside the SENCoTake a lead on whole–school strategic planning and the continued development of our curriculumProvide curriculum training for staff during training sessions and INSET, valuing your own and others' CPDDeputise for the Headteacher in their absenceLine manage a range of new and existing staff, including taking part in the recruitment and onboarding of new staffLead on careers, reading and writing to prepare young people for their next stepsContribute to the development, implementation and evaluation of the school's policies, practices and procedures in such a way as to support the school's values and visionWork with others on curriculum and/or pupil development to secure coordinated outcomesUse your expertise to promote a therapeutic approach to behaviour and emotional wellbeingCollaborate with staff, parents and external professionals to ensure the best outcomes for studentsManage and support staff teams, fostering a culture of cooperation, flexibility and continuous improvementWork closely with other leaders within the Polaris Community to share best practice and ensure alignment with our ethosWhat We're Looking For

The ideal candidate will have:

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with experience in SENDExperience of delivering a high–quality curriculum with a focus on supporting young people with SENDExperience in leading and managing teams with a compassionate and therapeutic approachExcellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work inclusively with staff, students and familiesA proactive, adaptable attitude, able to set up new systems and processes aligned with the school's values and ethosWhat We Offer
