Description

"Every small step is a big achievement."

We're looking for compassionate, dedicated people to support children with Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD) in Liverpool's specialist SEND schools.

You'll be part of a close–knit team helping pupils who have a range of complex needs – including sensory, physical, medical, and communication challenges – to access learning, build trust, and experience joy every day.

What the role involves:

Providing one–to–one and small–group support in a classroom setting

Assisting pupils with personal care, including toileting and changing

Supporting children with mobility and physical needs – including wheelchair transfers and use of hoists (training provided if needed)

Helping to deliver sensory–based learning activities designed around each child's individual plan

Working closely with teachers, therapists, and medical staff to ensure every child is safe, comfortable, and included

What we're looking for:

Experience supporting children or adults with complex physical and learning needs (school, residential, or care settings)

Awareness of PICA, PEG feeding, epilepsy, and medical protocols

Confidence working with wheelchair users and using hoisting equipment safely

Someone calm, patient, and committed to providing dignified personal care

A team player who can adapt quickly, follow care plans, and celebrate every small milestone

Must be able to provide two years' worth of employment references

What's on offer:

Term–time hours (school hours only – perfect for work–life balance)

Local placements across Liverpool, Sefton & Knowsley

Ongoing training, including moving & handling, PEG, hoist, and safeguarding

The chance to make a real difference for pupils with the most complex needs

This role is perfect for people from care, healthcare, or special education backgrounds – or anyone with a genuine passion for helping every child reach their full potential.

"It's not just support – it's connection, care, and communication."
