Description

Are you passionate about making education accessible for every student? Teach Now is delighted to be recruiting for a Communication Support Worker (CSW) to join a warm, happy and academically successful secondary school in Harrow.

This is a fantastic opportunity to work within the school’s Hearing Impaired Provision (HIP) team, supporting Deaf and Hearing-Impaired pupils across Key Stages 3–5. You will play a key role in ensuring students can fully access the curriculum through the use of British Sign Language (BSL), Sign Supported English (SSE), and other tailored strategies.

About the role:

• Facilitate lesson access for Deaf/Hearing Impaired pupils, adapting support to individual communication modes.

• Reinforce subject content and vocabulary to ensure understanding and progress.

• Provide key notes for pupils to refer back to during independent work.

• Identify and communicate any language or conceptual challenges to the Teacher of the Deaf, who will provide additional tutorial support.

• Foster positive communication between pupils, teachers, and peers.

About you:

• Experience or training in working with Deaf/Hearing Impaired pupils.

• Proficiency in BSL and/or SSE.

• Patient, adaptable, and committed to supporting inclusion in education.

• A collaborative team player who can work closely with teachers and support staff.
