Position: Full-Time Behavioural Support Assistant
Location: Wirral (SEMH School)
A specialist SEMH school in Wirral is seeking a dedicated and resilient Behavioural Support Assistant to join their team on a full-time basis. The successful candidate will play a vital role in supporting children who have experienced trauma or have social, emotional, and mental health needs, helping them feel safe, understood, and ready to learn.

Key Responsibilities
The Behavioural Support Assistant will:
Provide consistent, full-time support to children with complex behavioural or emotional needs.
Use trauma-informed approaches to help students feel safe, valued, and understood.
Implement effective de-escalation strategies to maintain a calm and secure learning environment.
Build strong, trusting relationships with students, offering stability and positive role modelling.
Work closely with teachers, pastoral staff, parents, and external agencies to develop tailored support plans.
Observe and track student progress, adapting strategies as required to meet individual needs.
Guide students through emotional regulation, coping strategies, and positive behaviour practices.
Qualifications and Experience
The ideal candidate will have:
Experience supporting children affected by trauma, ideally within an educational or therapeutic setting.
A strong understanding of trauma-informed care and behaviour management techniques.
Excellent communication, patience, and empathy.
A genuine passion for supporting children with SEMH needs.
Relevant qualifications in education, psychology, social work, or related fields (desirable).
Experience working with children with special educational needs (SEN), or a strong interest in developing skills in this area.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
