Description

Learning Support Assistant

Location: Hull

Salary: £23,000 to £24,000 Pro Rata

Contract: Full-Time, Permanent (Direct with School)

Start Date: January 2025

GSL Education is working with a specialist SEN school in Hull to recruit a dedicated Learning Support Assistant to join their team on a contracted, full-time basis (directly with the school, interview process)

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone passionate about supporting young people with SEMH (Social, Emotional, Mental Health Needs), Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD) in a nurturing, inclusive environment. The school provides bespoke education for learners aged 14–19, helping them develop key life skills, independence, and confidence for adulthood. Must have experience in behavioural challenges.

The Role of a Learning Support Assistant:

Support students aged 14–19 with ASC and SLD in both classroom and community-based learning.

Assist with individual education and care plans, promoting emotional wellbeing and personal growth.

Use de-escalation tactics when necessary.

Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and pastoral teams to create a calm, structured, and supportive environment.

Encourage engagement, communication, and social interaction through tailored support strategies.

Support students with personal care where required (training provided).

About You:

Experience supporting young people with complex behavioural issues, SEMH, ASC, SLD, or complex learning needs is highly desirable.

Patient, compassionate, and adaptable, with a calm and proactive approach.

Able to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.

Committed to promoting equality, inclusion, and positive outcomes for all learners.

Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection (training can be provided).

What’s on Offer:

A permanent contract directly with a supportive and forward-thinking school.

Ongoing professional development and specialist training.

A rewarding role where you can make a genuine difference in the lives of young people.

Term-time working hours – Monday to Friday, 08:30–15:30.

If you’re passionate about inclusive education and supporting young people with additional needs to thrive, we’d love to hear from you.

Apply today with your CV or contact Dena Gillies at GSL Education for more information. xjnqpsq

Please note: This role requires a strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection. Successful applicants must complete all safer recruitment checks, including an enhanced DBS on the update service
