Job Title: Behaviour Support Assistant

Location: Rotherham, S61

Pay Rate: £95 – £120 per day (depending on experience)

Start Date: Immediate

Contract Type: Day-to-day / Long-term, Full-time / Part-time

GSL Education are currently recruiting for a Behaviour Support Assistant to work in a school located in Rotherham. This role is ideal for someone with experience working with children or young people who present challenging behaviour, and who is committed to helping them thrive in an educational setting.

Role Overview:

As a Behaviour Support Assistant, you will work closely with teaching staff, pastoral teams, and SENCOs to support students who may struggle to engage with mainstream education. You will play a crucial role in promoting positive behaviour, emotional regulation, and academic participation.

Responsibilities as a Behaviour Support Assistant:

Provide 1:1 or small group support for pupils with behavioural or emotional difficulties.

De-escalate challenging situations using calm and supportive techniques.

Support classroom routines and help maintain a positive learning environment.

Implement behaviour management strategies in line with school policy.

Build trusting relationships with pupils to support their emotional wellbeing.

Monitor progress and contribute to individual support plans where necessary.

Requirements for the Behaviour Support role:

Experience working with children or young people with behavioural needs.

Understanding emotional and social difficulties and how they impact learning.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Ability to remain calm and patient in challenging situations.

Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).

A full, up-to-date CV with explanations for any gaps in employment in the last 10 years.
