Behaviour Mentor – SEMH School

The Education Network is delighted to be working in partnership with a dynamic SEMH school in South Birmingham to hire an experienced Behaviour Mentor. Are you a Behaviour Mentor or Teaching Assistant looking for a rewarding opportunity supporting young people with SEMH needs? Can you inspire engagement, effectively manage challenging behaviours, and mentor young people who have faced barriers to education? This school needs you!

As a Behaviour Mentor at this school, you will be joining an outstanding team of teachers and support staff that are committed to ensuring every child has access to an outstanding education. You will be providing 1-2-1 and small group support, managing behaviours, inspiring learners and taking part in whole school activities. The headteacher at this school is supportive and ensures all staff are equipped to work with learners with SEMH needs. This role requires Behaviour Mentor who has previous experience working with young people with SMEH needs, ideally in a school or residential setting.

The Role:

Providing 1-2-1 mentoring support for students with behavioural needs

Delivering small group interventions focused on behaviour and engagement

Supporting students to develop emotional regulation and social skills

Assisting in enrichment lessons and wider school activities

Promoting positive behaviour strategies and consistent routines

Working closely with teaching staff and pastoral teamsThe Ideal Candidate Will Have:

Experience working with young people with behavioural or SEMH needs

Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills

The ability to build positive, professional relationships with students

A calm, patient and resilient approach
