Behaviour Mentor | Derby: DE3 | £440 - £480 Per Week (after deductions) | Long Term to Permanent | Start Date: 3/11/25

LTF Recruitment are working in partnership with an independent special school that provides education out of a mainstream setting for learners aged 11-16. The school supports young people with high-functioning behavioural issues. They are seeking a Behaviour Mentor to work closely with students to promote positive behaviour, emotional regulation, and engagement in learning, collaborating with teachers, therapists, and pastoral staff to implement tailored support strategies that help each learner develop confidence, resilience, and social understanding in a calm and nurturing environment.

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

Deliver 1:1 and small-group support to help students with behavioural and emotional regulation, focusing primarily on KS3 pupils.

Work closely with teachers, therapists, and SEN staff to implement and reinforce positive behaviour strategies across the school.

Build trusting and empathetic relationships with students, responding to their individual needs with structure, consistency, and sensitivity.

Use adaptive strategies to manage and de-escalate challenging behaviours, promoting engagement and learning progression.

Develop, monitor, and review individual behaviour support plans, liaising with pastoral leads, parents, and other professionals as needed.Key Qualifications & Personal Attributes:

Experience supporting KS3 students with SEN and behavioural needs, ideally within special education, residential, or therapeutic school settings.

Minimum Level 3 qualification in Education, Psychology, Health and Social Care, SEN, Behaviour Support, or related field (desirable).

Naturally patient, resilient, and empathetic, with a calm, consistent approach.

Excellent communication & de-escalation skills. Confident liaising with senior leaders, therapists, parents, and external professionals.Why Choose Long Term Futures?
