The Opportunity:

Long Term Futures are working in partnership with a specialist Alternative Provision Academy in Derby (DE24) to appoint a dedicated Behaviour & Learning Practitioner. The academy supports pupils aged 11-16 who have been referred from mainstream schools or the Local Authority due to behavioural, social, emotional, or additional learning needs. This is a highly rewarding opportunity to work within a nurturing and inclusive environment, supporting young people to overcome barriers to education, develop positive relationships, and achieve successful outcomes both inside and outside the classroom.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide tailored one-to-one and small group support for pupils with SEMH, behavioural, and additional learning needs across KS3 and KS4.

Support pupils both in and out of the classroom, promoting engagement, emotional regulation, and positive behaviour.

Work collaboratively with teaching staff and pastoral teams to deliver personalised support and intervention strategies.

Build positive, trusting relationships that help pupils develop confidence, resilience, and independence.

Monitor pupil progress and contribute to creating a safe, structured, and supportive learning environment.

About You:

Experience supporting young people with SEMH, behavioural needs, SEND, or within an Alternative Provision, PRU, or specialist education setting.

Calm, patient, and resilient, with excellent behaviour management and relationship-building skills.

Confident supporting pupils both academically and pastorally to help them overcome barriers to learning.

A proactive team player with excellent communication skills and a genuine passion for improving outcomes for vulnerable young people.

An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one, is essential.
