Description

Assistant Head / Site Lead needed in Solihull

Are you an experienced education professional looking for a leadership role where you can make a real difference to the lives of young people? Do you have the confidence, resilience and leadership skills to manage a small Alternative Provision site and create a safe, supportive environment for students with SEMH needs?

Join our agency team and work within a small, specialist Alternative Provision in Solihull, supporting up to 15 students with SEMH and associated behavioural needs.

Location: Solihull

Start Date: ASAP

Contract: Ongoing, with potential for permanent placement

About the Role:

We are recruiting on behalf of a small and welcoming Alternative Provision in Solihull, where strong relationships, consistency and individualised support are at the heart of the provision.

As Assistant Head / Site Lead, you will take responsibility for the day–to–day leadership and management of the site, ensuring the provision runs safely, effectively and in line with the needs of its students. You will work closely with teaching and support staff to maintain high standards of behaviour, safeguarding, attendance and learning, while creating a calm and positive environment where students can thrive.

With a maximum of 15 students on site, this is a hands–on leadership role where you will be visible and actively involved in the day–to–day running of the provision. You will build strong relationships with students, support staff with behaviour management and provide clear and consistent leadership across the site.

You will also work closely with senior leaders, families and external professionals to support individual student outcomes, respond to emerging needs and ensure appropriate strategies are in place for students with SEMH and behavioural difficulties.

What We're Looking For:

Previous leadership or management experience within an education, Alternative Provision, SEMH or specialist setting

Strong experience working with young people who display challenging behaviour and/or have SEMH needs

Ability to lead and motivate a small team while remaining hands–on and approachable

Excellent behaviour management and de–escalation skills

Strong understanding of safeguarding and the ability to take responsibility for maintaining a safe site

Excellent communication and relationship–building skills with students, staff, parents and professionals

A calm, resilient and solution–focused approach

Ability to manage the day–to–day priorities of a small education setting effectively

A genuine commitment to improving outcomes for young people who may have struggled in mainstream education

Desirable (but not essential):

Previous Assistant Head, Head of Site, Head of Provision, Pastoral Lead or similar leadership experience

Previous Alternative Provision, PRU or specialist education experience

Experience working with students with SEMH, ASD, attachment needs or complex behavioural needs

Experience supporting or implementing behaviour policies and safeguarding procedures

Relevant teaching, leadership or SEND qualifications

What We Offer:

A small, supportive Alternative Provision with a maximum of 15 students

A hands–on leadership role where you can have a genuine impact

Support from an experienced senior leadership team

Excellent opportunities for professional development

A close–knit environment where relationships come first

Competitive rates of pay

Long–term opportunity with permanent potential

A rewarding role where you can directly influence the progress and future of young people

If you're an experienced education professional ready to take the next step into a hands–on leadership role and want to work in a small Alternative Provision where you can make a genuine difference, we'd love to hear from you.
