Description

Are you a compassionate and experienced educator with a passion for making a difference in the lives of young people? Prospero Teaching are seeking a dedicated Alternative Provision Tutor to support a young person transitioning into Year 8, who is currently working at a Key Stage 2 level in English and Maths.

About the Learner:

At risk of permanent exclusion (PEX)Requires support in Maths, English, and PSHEPresents with SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) needsCan become emotionally dysregulatedNeeds a calm, positive, and trauma–informed approachBuilding a trusting, consistent relationship is key

As an Alternative Provision Tutor you will:

Deliver 1:1 tuition for 15 hours per week (flexible timing)Create a safe, supportive learning environmentTailor sessions to meet the learner's academic and emotional needsWork collaboratively with other professionals involved in the learner's careAbout you:

Minimum 1 year of experience in UK schools as a TA, SEN TA, Cover Supervisor, Teacher, SENCO, or similarExperience supporting learners with SEMH needsSkilled in de–escalation and emotional regulation strategiesPatient, empathetic, and able to build rapport and trustConfident in delivering KS2–level Maths and English, and engaging PSHE contentPosition – Alternative Provision Tutor

Full time/part–time – Opportunities for both

Hours – 10 Hours per week– for the right candidate, this can be increased to full time with additional tuition opportunities

Essential & Desirable Qualifications:

Minimum of 1 year of experience working within UK schools– ESSENTIAL

Trauma–informed and skilled in de–escalation and emotional regulation strategies– Desirable

To be eligible for this role through Prospero teaching, you must:

Hold right to work in the UKHold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new applicationProvide references upon requestPossess up to date Safeguarding Training (or a willingness to undertake this)
