Description

A welcoming and inclusive primary school in the London Borough of Newham is seeking a compassionate and committed 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a pupil with additional learning needs. This is a full-time role starting in September 2025, ideal for someone with experience in providing tailored support in a primary setting.

Key Responsibilities:

Providing 1:1 support to a pupil with identified special educational needs (SEN)

Assisting with learning tasks, behaviour management, and personal development

Working closely with the class teacher and SENCO to implement support plans

Helping to create an inclusive, engaging, and safe learning environment

Encouraging independence and confidence in learning and social interactions

Supporting with personal care, where necessary (depending on the child’s needs)

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

Previous experience working with children with SEN in a primary school setting

A patient, nurturing, and empathetic approach

Strong communication skills and the ability to work well as part of a team

An understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures

A relevant qualification (e.g. Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant or SEN-specific training) is desirable
