1:1 Teaching Assistant – Primary School – Colchester

Location: Colchester, Essex

Contract Type: Full-Time, Term-Time Only

Are you a patient, caring, and dedicated individual with a passion for supporting children with additional needs? Vision for Education is seeking a committed 1:1 Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Colchester. This is a full-time role working closely with a pupil who requires additional support to access the curriculum and thrive in their learning environment.

The Role:

As a 1:1 Teaching Assistant, you will:

Provide individualised support to a pupil with special educational needs

Work collaboratively with the class teacher, SENCO, and external professionals

Support the child’s academic, social, and emotional development throughout the school day

Adapt learning materials and approaches to suit the pupil’s needs

Monitor progress and contribute to regular reviews and planning meetings

The Ideal Candidate:

Has previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant or in a similar support role

Experience supporting children with SEN (e.g. ASD, ADHD, speech and language needs) is highly desirable

Demonstrates patience, empathy, and strong behaviour management skills

Is confident in supporting learning both in and outside of the classroom

Holds a relevant qualification (e.g. Level 2 or 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning – desirable but not essential)
