VOX ORGAN JENNINGS UNIVOX J10 - 1950s vacuum tube synthesiser
Univox were a family of early electronic keyboards and synthesizers produced by the British company Jennings Organ Company (later Jennings Musical Industries) and later by the American company Unicord. It includes both monophonic tube-based instruments from the 1950s and more advanced combo organs and synthesizers from the 1970s.
Early Jennings Univox (1950s)
Description: The original Univox was a monophonic, tube-based instrument with a single keyboard. It was designed to be portable and could be mounted on a standard piano.
Predecessor: It was developed after the Clavioline, a similar instrument, but used a different circuit design.
Models: Early models included the J6 and J10. Later models had more extensive controls.
Features: It was one of the first electronic keyboards to have a form of aftertouch, where pressure applied to the keys could affect the sound.
Sound: Its sound is described as similar to an organ, with various controls for tone and effects.
Amplification: The Univox required an external amplifier, which was often sold as part of the system.
We have no way of testing the instrument - it is sold as seen.
