Sharp VZ‑2000E Boombox stereo
Watford, Hertfordshire
Description
Sharp VZ‑2000E ghetto-blaster.
This is a legendary one of a kind, highly collectible 1982 vintage unit — unique because it has a vertical automatic turntable, cassette deck, and radio all in one. It is rare, heavy, and very sought‑after by retro audio collectors.
The Sharp VZ-2000E (released circa 1981–1983) is a legendary, highly collectible 1980s "luggable" boombox. It is most famous for its unique vertical front-loading, linear-tracking turntable that automatically plays both sides of a vinyl record without requiring you to flip
Turntable: Vertical‑mount automatic record player, with linear tracking system, can play 33, 45 and 78 RPM records, supports automatic side change, fully enclosed behind a smoked clear acrylic panel. Although the turntable requires some minor wire repair, I’ve taken a photo to show the cable broken. Access to the wire is from the front of the system without the need to dismantle.
• Audio functions: FM/MW/LW radio tuner, full logic cassette deck with auto reverse, metal tape support, recording and dubbing capability. Fully working.
• Sound system: Twin 2‑way speaker design with dedicated tweeter and woofer units, plus built‑in amplifiers for rich, powerful stereo sound. Fully working.
• Build & design: All‑metal body finished in silver with blue control accents, retro‑futuristic styling, sturdy construction, all controls, switches and meters are fully original.
• Condition: This unit is complete, fully original, cleaned and detailed, with only minor age‑related marks and wear consistent with age, no damage just missing plastic power button, however easily to switch on and off without it and a couple of plastic slider missing as shown in photo.
Power lead EU also included.
Also compatible for external speakers and optional battery power.
Item has been well looked after, 1 owner from new and stored in my loft since 1983.
I am happy to take serious offers before considering auction. Thankyou
