Description
HMV 1251 vintage valve radio from 1956.
7 valves.
Long wave, medium wave and FM bands.
Dodgy components such as electrolytic capacitors and out-of-range resistors have been renewed. The big mains smoothing capacitor had been opened up, repacked with modern components and sealed up again.
It works on all bands.
Downsides: Magic eye tuning valve does not work (no impact on performance). The volume control is noisy and crackles when turned but okay when set. The on/off switch is unserviceable and has been bypassed so the radio switched on when it is plugged in to the mains.
