ROGERS LS3/5A LOUDSPEAKERS 11 ohm for sale,
working and sound superb
I have received confirmation from 3 sources that these are genuine Rogers LS3/5a loudspeakers These were purchased from a BBC Archive dept auction. The only images I could find of any LS3/5a's with XLR inputs on the rear were manufactured by ROGERS. Obviously, coming with
XLR inputs only, these were used for studio use. I've received some information on these speaker. A former BBC sound engineer advised that these were installed in the BBC radio sound suite , permanently located in the Royal Opera house, Covent Garden. He remembers them mounted on the wall in the BBC suite

The cabinets have been painted a nice shade of blue - probably to match the decor in the
BBC suite they were in. The makers labels were probably removed at that time for painting.
The speaker have some sequential BBC stickers, 2622 and 2623 on the bottom LH fronts, and "PROPERTY OF PRESERVATION SERVICES" stickers on the sides.
All in all, a nice honest set of LS3/5a's, with provenance back to the BBC Archive dept.
The speaker are working great and sound fantastic, with no issues
The speaker drive units are in excellent condition
The speaker grills are in excellent condition
Cabinet paintwork have mostly a few small age related marks, but a long scrape to the paint on
one speaker (see image).
Rear of cabinets have dedicated XLR input socket and several screw holes - with being mounted on brackets.
The cabinets look to have been professionally painted or maybe even supplied in this colour by Rogers. They still have the woodgrain shown and could be computer scanned to be colour matched or stripped back to wood veneer or re-painted to a colour of your choice.
Re-staple the grill velcro back onto the cabinet ( a couple of pieces have come away with thegrill)- 5 minute job
