Frugelhorn XL Speakers

I'm guessing that if you are looking at this and you're aware of what they are. They are a design available through DIYAudio forum and kjf Audio supply pre cut birch ply kits to allow you to build your own. Kjf Audio also supply the drivers. The cost for the kit plus the drivers is about £800.

They need space and are just under 1m tall so your listening room will need to be 4m x 4m or larger. Given that space they are astonishingly good for the money. For example the person who bought these spent over £4k to get a fairly modest improvement in sound.

Timing (only one driver) is exemplary, imaging is outstanding and mid range makes voices more earily real than with other speakers I've used. Bass wise you have 'non ported bass' which means you trade a bit of punch for speed and real tone. Drums have proper pitch and the sound is more like a real drum. Bass is likewise fast, and rich in rone.

Overall it's like having the focus and speed of a stand mount with bigger speaker bass.

Why am I selling. Simply because I've been offered another pair which have been veneered so the look a bit posher - so my better half will prefer them.

If you have the space, I can't think of a better speaker that I can remotely afford.
