Recruiter Contact: Janet

About the Young Person: Tim (16) lives with his parents, twin brother, and two much-loved dogs. He has a brilliant smile and a love of Minecraft, gaming, swimming, cinema trips, and train adventures during the holidays. He’s less keen on emptying the dishwasher! Tim has quadriplegic cerebral palsy and communicates using signs and his computer. He can weight-bear during supported transitions and eats independently. As a keen foodie, he’d love encouragement to prepare his own meals. He is also an excellent planner, and supporting him to organise holiday activities will help build independence and autonomy.

Role Overview: During term time, Tim arrives home at 4:30pm and may be tired after school, so flexibility is key. As his PA/Buddy, you’ll read his mood and respond accordingly—some days he’ll be eager and engaged, while other days he may be reluctant and need gentle encouragement. He has a few household tasks he’s expected to complete, and you’ll provide subtle, positive prompting to support motivation. Dinner is usually around 6:00pm and can be a fun opportunity to involve him in meal prep and clearing up. Parents return by 7:30pm to take over the evening routine. During school holidays, activities are planned by Tim and guided by his PA—further details will be shared with shortlisted candidates.

This Job Would Suit: Someone patient, adaptable, and proactive, who enjoys encouraging independence and supporting a young person with quadriplegic cerebral palsy. You’ll provide gentle, clear guidance while respecting Tim’s autonomy, bringing enthusiasm and positivity to make everyday tasks enjoyable and meaningful.

Why You’ll Love This Role: You’ll be working within a warm, friendly family where your input truly matters. This is a rewarding opportunity to foster independence, confidence, and enjoyment in a young person who embraces life.

Recruitment Process: This vacancy is managed through Snap Care’s Shortlist Service. We review all applications and confirm essential criteria before forwarding suitable CVs to our client/case manager. By applying, you consent to your details being shared with our client. We are unable to provide sponsorship for any of our vacancies. If a specific gender is required, this is a genuine occupational requirement under paragraph 1, Schedule 9 of the Equality Act 2010.
