Test Development Engineer

Description

Our client, a Defence and Security supplier is looking for a Test Development Engineer to join them on a contract basis at any of their sites across Harlow, Glenrothes or Livingson.

Due to the nature of the role, applicants must be willing to obtain SC Clearance (can start on BPSS clearance)12 month initial contractRate is open to discussion, inside IR354 days per week onsite in either Harlow, Glenrothes or Livingson.Primary Purpose of this position

Responsible for the design, manufacture, verification and validation, along with through life technical support of board level, sub-system and system level test equipment.

Main duties:

Design of functional test equipmentTo take responsibility for the design and overall quality of the test equipment and provide leadership and guidance for junior engineers.Documentation of design specifications and implementation details. Take part in design reviews. Upholding of design standards and methodologies.Realisation of complex system requirements to provide robust and reliable test hardware solutions.Responsibility for the complete implementation of detailed technical items and an understanding/appreciation of system level items.Collaboration with other team members (including both hardware and software engineers) to agree system designs, interfaces and protocols etc.Development of appropriate test hardware, test software and procedures, both informal and formal, to prove the correct operation of hardware.Provide support to manufacturing answering product queries & resolving technical issues.Provide support for the test hardware and manage obsolescence throughout its lifecycle.Monitoring and reporting of progress of test development to immediate supervisor and development team.Proactively support company compliance to Health and Safety legislation through adherence to company polices, processes and practices.Ensure that all business activity is conducted in line with company values, policies and ethics codes of conduct.Undertake any other activity as reasonably requested by managementApplication of IPDS ProcessesAccountable for engineering specific risks and opportunities. Key contributor at Gate/Design reviewsProvides guidance of Test Development processes and tools.Contribute to section/business area resource planning with a working understanding of Microsoft Project tools.Test Engineering Lead for a small/medium scale test engineering programAbility to identify and engage the appropriate SME's to support the Test Development Engineering activities. Contributor/Approver for standard/tailored test development process including IPDS gates and contentKey interface to external customers/suppliers.Knowledge & Experience:

Essential:

Degree qualified in Electronic Engineering/related subjectTest software design experience.Excellent knowledge of analogue and digital electronic circuit design.Ability to write comprehensive technical design documentation.Proven experience in handover and management of designs in production.Excellent hardware troubleshooting skills.Able to support/debug system integrationGood knowledge of MS Office productsGood communicatorMust be eligible for MOD Security Clearance to a minimum of SC level
