Description

Our client, a leading firm in the defence and security sector, is currently seeking a Programme Manager to join their team on a contract basis in Oakdale. This role offers the opportunity to work on high-stakes projects, essential to national security and defence, with a blend of onsite and remote work arrangements.

Key Responsibilities:

Managing and delivering multiple projects within the organisation, including competitive and non-competitive bidsEnsuring timely provision of project deliverables, performance metrics, and progress reportsMaintaining programme budgetary control and effective risk managementLeading cross-functional engineering teams and collaborating with customer colleaguesPlanning and executing various projects using both Waterfall and Agile methodologiesWorking closely with customers, partners, and suppliers in the defence industryDelivering projects within allocated time, budget, and quality requirementsManaging a portfolio of low to medium complexity projectsDriving successful delivery of complex engineering projects within the Tactical Communications domainNavigating both traditional (Waterfall) and Agile (SAFe) delivery environmentsProactively managing risks, subcontractors, and finances

Job Requirements:

Proven experience managing complex, multidisciplinary projects within the defence or communications sectorsStrong understanding of project governance, planning, and control techniquesFamiliarity with tactical communication systems design, development, deployment, and operationExperience with change management and programme-level frameworks such as MSP and P3MComfortable working across both Agile and traditional delivery environmentsDemonstrable experience in leading projects of medium to high complexityDegree-qualified in a relevant discipline (e.g., Engineering, Business, IT) or equivalent experienceProfessional certification (e.g., PRINCE2, PMP, APM PMQ, SAFe Agilist) is advantageous
