Principal Test Equipment Engineer

Edinburgh

12-month contract

Paying up to 74p/h (inside IR35)

Overview: As the Principal Test Equipment Engineer, you?ll work within a multi-disciplinary engineering environment, helping to deliver complex Automatic Test Equipment (ATE) systems and ensuring they meet the needs of both internal and external stakeholders.

What You?ll Do

Lead the creation and delivery of technical solutions within defined work packages, ensuring alignment with stakeholder requirementsDevelop and deploy test programs for ATE systemsIntegrate hardware and software test programs, including NI TestStand environmentsDesign systems, interfaces, and cable assembliesCollaborate closely with IPT functions, production teams, and external customer stakeholdersProvide expert guidance on tools, techniques, and best practices for test equipment designResolve emerging technical issues, escalating complex risk,s and supporting mitigation strategiesBuild strong internal and external networks, promoting continuous improvement and best practice adoptionMentor, coach, and develop engineers across the wider team

What You?ll Bring

Proven experience developing technical solutions within multi-disciplinary engineering teamsIntegration experience using languages such as CVI, C, and C++Experience integrating within NI TestStand environmentsLF/Digital and/or RF/microwave hardware integration experienceOffsite or overseas test integration exposureHands-on experience across the full hardware design lifecycleUnderstanding of product safety legislationStrong ability to capture and analyse stakeholder needsExcellent interpersonal and collaboration skills, with the ability to influence and adaptExperience working with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, including customers and suppliersDemonstrated ability to coach and develop others
