Lead Project Professional

Description

Our client is seeking a Lead Project Professional to support submarine and maritime programmes within the AUKUS Support Contract. Based in Bristol, this contract role will lead SPIO scope delivery, support workstream execution and help develop future requirements with internal and external stakeholders. Regular travel to Barrow will be required.

Key Responsibilities:

Supporting the SPIO Project Manager as the day–to–day interface with local stakeholders in Bristol, including resident SDA and ASA project teamsLeading the delivery of SPIO–related scope on behalf of the client, in line with project plans and agreed prioritiesSupporting the wider UK AUKUS Delivery Team and representing the client at SDA headquartersManaging stakeholders and advocating for SPIO requirements across the wider project communityIdentifying and clarifying the SPIO work pipeline in collaboration with SDA and ASASupporting business planning, stakeholder engagement and procurement activitiesContributing to AUKUS campaign and bid activities, as requiredDeveloping future scope requirements that support AUKUS maturity and potential contractual changesMaintaining accurate project metrics and providing clear progress updatesIdentifying and escalating project issues, risks and blockers through the appropriate governance forumsProviding leadership, mentorship and guidance to direct reports and supporting team developmentTravelling to Barrow on a monthly basis

Job Requirements:

Experience in project management, project delivery or a related programme environmentDegree qualification or suitable equivalent experienceThorough working knowledge of project management processes and practices, with awareness of lifecycle managementFormal project management qualifications would be advantageousConfident engaging with stakeholders at all levels and providing regular communication and updatesExperience supporting business planning, procurement processes and stakeholder managementUnderstanding of project metrics, risk management, issue escalation and governanceExperience providing team mentorship, guidance and development supportAbility to work effectively across maritime, submarine or defence programme environments
