Bypass secateurs are ideal for cutting live (green) plant material, thanks to their scissor-like action. They are specifically good for:
✅Best Uses:
Green Stems and Branches: Fresh, living growth up to about ¾ inch (2 cm) thick.
Flowers and Soft Stems: Perfect for deadheading, flower cutting, and pruning herbaceous plants.
Shrubs and Small Trees: Great for shaping and thinning branches without crushing them.
Precise Cuts: Clean cuts help plants heal faster and reduce the risk of disease.
🔴 Not Ideal For:
Dead or Woody Branches: These can be too hard and may damage the blades—use anvil secateurs or loppers instead.
Thick Branches: Anything over ~¾ inch is better handled with loppers or a pruning saw.
