Description

Saab 900 GLS 8v 1983 - Spares/Project Car.

This is a 1983 flat nose Saab 900 GLS (twin Stromberg carburettors) which is being sold complete for either spares or a complete restoration project.

I originally bought the car two years ago, at which point it was barely running/running extremely rough. Life/another classic diverted my attention in the middle of changing the head gasket and refurbishing the cylinder head, and given its condition in other areas I am selling it on a parts/project basis.

Work done:
Full refurbishment of the carburettors carried out by a mechanically inclined retired engineer family member who hoped the last time he'd have to work on a carburettor was probably around 1987.
Reconditioning of the cylinder head by Baldyne Engineering, Bromley including skimming and valve seat adjustment. The cylinder head remains removed from the engine block. I have lost the original receipt, but can provide proof of my payment to them.
New heater matrix following a coolant leak traced back to this.
The bodywork is obviously far from perfect as the pictures show, but I'm not aware of any large volume/serious structural rust. The roof lining as pictured would need a complete overhaul. The gearbox dipstick housing (which was originally welded from factory via a bracket to the exhaust manifold) has also broken.

This would therefore be a good 8V flat nose donor car, or a base for an involved restoration project.
