This is an authentic reindeer skin that was bought in Norway.
It has the tag on the back.
It was not used to stand or sit on but was hung on a wall. This is why it still looks consistent and not patchy.
It is certainly the case that the fur does shed individual hairs ( not tufts ) and you can see from the wording of the tag that it indicates it is not truly suitable for general use as a rug but more for decoration purposes as a hanging object. Any sellers who are not saying so are most likely misleading. This may not be the case for other general animal skins but it is for reindeer. Also it cannot entirely have the smell of the animal erased like leather does because it would undermine the fur pile.
