This is ‘Grandad’ a 1962 Rover P5, 3 litre straight 6 automatic.

Grandad came to us during Covid and we have loved him for 5 or so years. Unfortunately we have just lost our storage (he’s been in a garage all the time I’ve had him) and now stored under a car port. My work is getting busier and busier and he needs to be enjoyed by the next family who can use him more than I do.

If you are after an immaculate P5, this one is not for you. Grandad is a working example, mechanically sound, runs and drives great! But it is not immaculate. The bumpers are showing rust, the body work has some marks on it and the interior is used.   That said, he still turns heads on the road and at car shows, everyone seems to love him.

Im told he started life in South Africa as a high up military personnels car before coming to the UK at about 8 years old.  At some point he’s been lightly restored and been painted, again in Admiral Blue as standard.  

The straight 6 is in great condition and purrs like a kitten. The auto box works well and is as smooth as it could be for over 60 years old.  The speedo doesn’t work (I use a gps for speed) with just under 100k on it. I have a box of spares that come with it too. 

He’s got power steering and power disc brakes on the front.

He is tax and MOT exempt, insurance is about £100 a year.
