Description
If you are looking to buy a used road bike and are not sure of your size or maybe you are looking for a specific size, please send us a message and we'll see what we have in stock. We are trying to take the hassle out of you finding the right bike, without you having to travel around from place to place, especially when other sellers don't seem to give a clear indication of size or what they are selling and you have wasted trips. Knowing your budget and how tall the rider is, would help us give a recommendation.
All bikes are cleaned and maintained before being sold. Prices are currently between £120 - £650 and all sizes and genders are catered for. We mainly stock drop handle road bikes. Hybrid bikes tend to sell quite quickly, but we do currently have a few in stock.
If coming by car, we are 2 minutes from A13 and 10 minutes from M25. Also 5-10 minutes walk from 100, 83 & 73 bus routes. Local Essex or Kent delivery may also be possible depending on postcode.
The feedback that we get is that buyers wished they had come to us first, as they would have saved themselves a lot of time and effort - the latest being a 5ft 2 lady who was told repeatedly that the bike she travelled to see was going to be small, however when she got there, it was more large and it was a waste of her time.
Today, we had someone come and try a few and bought a size that she hadn't initially been looking for, because it felt a lot more comfortable. You won't get this experience from a big chain or local retailer.
Buying a road bike is quite difficult and doesn't help when manufacturers give different size guides. Sometimes it's all to do with geometry of the frames and human bodies are all different!
We take pride in trying to offer bicycles that we would genuinely want to buy for ourselves and we contact bikeregister if we come across a bike that has been stolen to try and get it back to it's rightful owner.
If you are looking to buy a bike, even if it not from us, a few tips for you to save you wasting your time and money:
* Unless you are looking for a project bike, avoid adverts that have no description or very few photos. Ask questions, can I ride it away? You will be surprised the amount of people that will try and sell you a bike and the tyres are flat because they don't have a pump or they have a pump and literally can't be bothered to put a bit of effort into making it rideable or cleaning it a little, so might be full of cobwebs and spiders from it being sat in the garden all year!
* Avoid adverts with very short titles, like Bike or Bicycle without any other description. This is usually a sign that the bike might be stolen. If they have just stolen it, they will not want to put the full description of exactly what they are selling (I.e. make and model), as it is likely the owner is going to be looking out for it on selling sites.
* Adverts when they say "Selling on behalf of a friend or family member" might well be legitimate, but when you ask questions before or when you turn up, they usually don't know the answers and if there is a issue with the bike "it's not their bike and not their problem"
Buying a bike and riding it should be a pleasurable experience, so we will try our best to help you get on two wheels and ride away happy! 🙂
