Stores Manager

Barnsley

Full Time (5 days per week)

Part-time applications (3–4 days) may be considered for exceptional candidates.

3 month contract, reviewed after initial 3 months

The Role

We are looking for an experienced Stores Manager to oversee the day-to-day operation of the Stores function supporting Construction Services in Barnsley. The role will ensure the service provides an efficient, effective and high-quality stores operation to internal teams, clients and customers.

You will manage warehouse processes including ordering, stock control, storage and distribution of materials, plant and equipment, while supervising stores staff and ensuring compliance with health and safety requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Manage the stores function and supervise staff.

*

Oversee warehouse operations including picking, deliveries, stock control and distribution of materials.

*

Liaise with Operations Managers and the Service Control Unit to plan materials and equipment requirements.

*

Ensure effective stock management including regular stock checks and investigation of discrepancies.

*

Lead on reviewing and improving stores procedures to ensure efficient ways of working.

*

Act as the key contact for audits, inspections and compliance reviews.

*

Monitor supplier performance and attend contract review meetings.

*

Ensure COSHH requirements and health & safety procedures are followed.

*

Maintain plant and tool registers and ensure equipment testing/calibration is completed.

Requirements

*

HNC/NVQ Level 4 in a relevant discipline or equivalent relevant experience.

*

Experience managing stores, warehouse or logistics operations.

Experience supervising or leading staff. xjnqpsq

Good understanding of stock control, warehouse procedures and operational processes.

Desirable

*

Health & Safety training such as SMSTS or IOSH, or willingness to undertake the required training
