We are recruiting for a Procurement / Purchasing Manager to lead purchasing activities across a well–established automotive manufacturing business in Coventry.

This is a key role, working closely with Supply Chain, Operations, Engineering and Quality, with responsibility for supplier performance, cost reduction, material availability and supporting the overall competitiveness and profitability of the business.

The Role

Leading and managing the Purchasing team and wider purchasing activitiesDeveloping and implementing purchasing strategies aligned with business and customer requirementsManaging procurement of direct and indirect materials within an automotive Tier 1 environmentSourcing, negotiating and managing suppliers across cost, quality, delivery and serviceDriving supplier cost reduction, value engineering and continuous improvementManaging supplier performance, audits and developmentWorking closely with Planning to ensure material availability and production continuitySupporting NPI and new programme launches through effective supplier managementOwning KPIs covering cost, quality, inventory and supplier performanceSupporting inventory optimisation and working capital improvementsEnsuring purchasing activity meets customer requirements and industry standards, including IATF 16949Reporting on purchasing performance, supplier metrics and cost saving initiativesAbout You

We are looking for an experienced Procurement / Purchasing professional with a strong background in automotive manufacturing and supplier management.

You will ideally have:

Minimum 5 years' purchasing or procurement experience within automotive manufacturingExperience within a Tier 1 automotive environmentStrong understanding of supply chain and customer driven manufacturingExperience managing direct material commodities and supplier negotiationsProven track record of delivering cost savings and operational improvementsStrong commercial awareness and supplier management experienceKnowledge of supplier development, APQP and quality standardsExperience managing supply continuity within a manufacturing environmentMCIPS qualified or working towards qualification, desirableStrong communication, organisational and stakeholder management skillsA results driven approach with the ability to drive accountability and continuous improvementThis is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Procurement / Purchasing professional to take ownership of the purchasing function within an established automotive manufacturer, with the autonomy to drive supplier performance, reduce costs and make a genuine commercial impact.
