Pertemps Isle of Wight are currently recruiting on behalf of our client, based in Newport, who are looking for an experienced Buyer to join their team on an ongoing temporary basis.

This is a great opportunity for an experienced purchasing or procurement professional to join a busy team and play an important role in ensuring materials and components are available when required.

The Role

As a Buyer, you will be responsible for purchasing parts and materials, managing purchase orders and working closely with suppliers and internal teams to ensure requirements are met in terms of quality, cost and lead times.

Key ResponsibilitiesProcess and administer purchase orders in line with internal requirements.

Identify purchasing requirements based on production schedules and forecasts.

Liaise with suppliers to ensure quality, cost and delivery requirements are met.

Obtain quotations and support internal teams with purchasing requirements.

Expedite existing orders and proactively monitor supplier deliveries.

Monitor and adjust delivery schedules to ensure materials are available when required.

Provide regular updates on outstanding orders to internal stakeholders.

Assist with the resolution of non–conforming parts received from suppliers.

Work in accordance with internal processes and procedures.

Contribute to process improvements and efficiency initiatives.

Support internal auditing activities.

Assist with other duties within the operations team as required.

About You

The successful candidate will ideally have previous experience within purchasing, procurement or supply chain and be comfortable managing multiple suppliers, orders and deadlines.

You will have:

Strong communication and negotiation skills.

Excellent attention to detail.

Good analytical and problem–solving skills.

Strong organisational and time–management abilities.

Knowledge of supply chain processes.

Commercial and financial awareness.

Experience using procurement software and/or ERP systems.

A proactive and professional approach to your work.

You'll also be someone who is reliable, organised, adaptable and able to remain calm under pressure.
