Unlike the standard Scenic, the XMOD is a very specific "crossover" version to bridge the gap between a family MPV and an SUV. It has a rotary dial near the gearstick that controls the traction. It has three modes: Road, Loose Ground, and Expert - perfect for muddy campsites, snowy school runs, or festivals where a normal car might get stuck.

XMOD looks more rugged than the base model. It has raised ground clearance, chunky front and rear bumpers, and chrome-finish roof rails. You get the SUV look and a higher driving position, but you don't lose the famous Scenic interior space. There are hidden compartments under the floor mats for stashing valuables or kids' toys. The large storage unit between the front seats slides back and forth to give more room to the front or rear. The three back seats are separate. They can slide, fold, or be removed entirely to turn the car into a small van.

This 1.5 dCi engine is legendary for its MPG. In 2014, it was rated at over 68 mpg (combined).
