Human Resources Manager

Salary up to 48,000 (pro-rated from 60,000)

Part time (4 days/week)

Role Overview

The Group Human Resources Manager is responsible for the effective management of all HR activities across the organisation. The role ensures that HR policies, procedures and practices support the needs of the business, employees and managers, while maintaining compliance with employment legislation and company requirements.

Working closely with the Senior Management Team, the post holder provides advice and guidance on a range of people matters, including recruitment, employee relations, performance management, training and development, attendance management and employee well-being.

The role is responsible for developing HR processes, enabling career progression and promoting a positive and inclusive working environment. The post-holder operates with a high degree of autonomy and leads the day to day delivery of HR services across the organisation.

Responsibilities

HR management and compliance

Develop, review and implement HR policies, procedures and programmes, ensuring compliance with employment legislation and organisational requirementsOversee the provision of HR services across the organisationEnsure employee records and HR documentation are maintained accurately, securely and confidentiallyManage employment related documentation including contracts of employment, variations to terms and conditions, probation reviews and termination paperworkMaintain HR records and documentation to support organisational compliance requirements, accreditation standards and internal and external auditsCoordinate the provision of HR information, reports and evidence required for audits, inspections and compliance reviewsMonitor changes in employment legislation and recommend updates to policies and practices where requireProvide practical HR advice and guidance to managers and employees on employment matters and company policiesRecruitment and on-boarding

Support the recruitment process, including advertising vacancies, shortlisting and finalising the appointment of candidatesAdvise managers on workforce planning and recruitment requirementsEnsure effective on-boarding processes are in place for all new employeesCoordinate and deliver company induction programmes and new starter arrangementsPromote a positive candidate and employee experience throughout the recruitment and on-boarding processEmployee relations

Manage employee relations matters, including disciplinary, grievance, capability and absence management proceduresProvide guidance to managers on resolving workplace issues fairly, consistently and in line with company proceduresSupport employee welfare and well-being and signpost employees to appropriate support where requiredFoster positive working relationships and encourage a respectful and inclusive working environmentTraining, development and performance

Oversee employee training and development activities across the organisationIdentify training needs and work with managers to develop employees and teamsCoordinate mandatory training, refresher training and professional development opportunitiesDevelop and maintain career progression frameworks and employee development pathwaysLead performance management processes and provide guidance to managers on performance related mattersCoordinate succession planning and development opportunities across the organisationAttendance and well-being

Monitor attendance, absence and leave across the organisationAdvise managers on the effective management of attendance issues and absence proceduresAnalyse absence trends and recommend actions to support employee well-being and operational needsPromote initiatives that enhance employee well-being and engagementHR systems, reporting and process improvement

Maintain effective HR systems, records and reporting processesProduce regular HR reports and management information for the Senior Management TeamMonitor and analyse HR data relating to recruitment, retention, training, attendance and employee turnoverReview and improve HR processes and systems to ensure they remain efficient, compliant and user friendlyLead or support HR related projects and organisational change initiatives as requiredPayroll, benefits and pensions

Provide payroll related information accurately and within agreed timescalesMaintain effective working relationships with benefit providers, brokers and other external partnersAct as the main point of contact for employee benefits, providing information and support to employees where requiredEnsure employee benefit records are maintained accurately and communicated effectively to employeesReview employee benefits arrangements periodically and make recommendations to ensure they remain appropriate and aligned with organisational needsWork collaboratively with Finance on matters relating to payroll, pensions and employee benefitsLeadership and Management

Provide day to day management and development for the HR Business Support OfficerAllocate and prioritise workloads to ensure the effective delivery of HR administration and supportPromote continuous improvement, development and good practice within the HR functionSkills, Knowledge and Experience

Essential

Proven experience in an HR management roleSound knowledge of employment law and HR best practiceExperience of managing employee relations cases and advising managers on people mattersExperience of leading recruitment and on-boarding activitiesExperience of coordinating training and development programmesAbility to analyse HR information and produce meaningful reportsStrong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.Excellent communication and interpersonal skillsAbility to build effective working relationships with employees and managers at all levelsProfessional, approachable and able to handle confidential information appropriatelyProficient in the use of HR systems and Microsoft Office applicationsCIPD qualification or equivalent professional experienceDesirable

Degree level qualification in Human Resources, Business Administration or a related subjectExperience of supporting organisational growth, workforce planning or career development initiatives
