The village is very friendly, with 2 cafes, an award winning restaurant, 2 grocery shops, a craft shop and a hairdresser. Many staff from the University of St Andrews live here or in the adjacent villages, and there are many activities to get involved in. There is a primary school in the village, and a secondary school 3 miles away. Nearby is a farm shop, bakery, post office, garage, art galleries, more cafes, beaches and golf courses. Sea bathing is very popular with an outdoor pool in St Monans, and mobile saunas at various local beaches. There are lovely walks in all directions, along the coast or inland over rolling hills.
Just 20 minutes drive to St Andrews, 45 minutes to Dundee, around an hour to Edinburgh and Perth. There is a regular bus service to St Andrews, Edinburgh and Glasgow. The roads are quiet with no traffic jams.
