Superb, original, limited edition, Pop Art screen print by listed British artist, Harvey Daniels (1936-2013).
Daniels studied at the Willesden School of Art (1951-56), the Slade (1956-58) and Brighton College of Art (1958-59).
In 1963 Harvey returned to Brighton College, initially as a printmaking technician and from 1970 as Principal Lecturer in Printmaking, running the Printmaking department at the college until his retirement in 1988.
He was a founding member of the Printmakers Council, he also remained an exhibiting member of The London Group throughout his life. Harvey regularly exhibited worldwide, including exhibitions in Norway, Germany and the United States. His first solo show was held in New York in 1963, and during his lifetime he had over 56 solo exhibitions. Harvey’s work is included in many prestigious public collections, including the Museum of Modern Art, New York, and the Victoria and Albert Museum, London.
This stunning artwork, entitled ‘Lady in Box, Twice’ is a fabulous, hand-pulled lithograph on wove paper. The image features a profile of a woman with classic, 60s sunglasses. Her image is framed in a box and duplicated twice in vibrant Pop Art style. It is titled in pencil, hand signed by Daniels, dated 1966 and numbered 4 of 10. Print is free from tears, blemishes or foxing.
The print measures 79cm by 57cm and has been professionally framed behind glass in a solid wood frame that has been finished with a white wash.
Overall framed size is an impressive 89.5cm by 63cm.
