Description
This car is 42 years old and is already a classic and is the Targa roof option so very desirable. It will suit any collector and/or enthusiast who might like the option to visit lots of classic cars shows to exhibit. It is a real head turner and in Guards Red it is, in my opinion, the best colour.
This is a great light project for someone who has time and more knowledge than me.
The previous owner SORNed the car for 16 years as she fell ill and always hoped that she might get to drive it again one day but sadly that hasn't been the case aand she decided to sell it. I acquired the car earlier this year with the intention of doing a 1980's themed European Car Tour which is not now going ahead.
The car runs but as it had stood for quite a number of years it had a few issues to resolve and work done last month to recommission it includes:
5 new tyres
2 rear brake cylinders
brake fluid change
coolant hoses replaced
thermostat housing replaced
fuel sump bracket
new battery
service
coolant change
new timing belt and pulley
indicator stalk replaced
windscreen fluid pump repaired
The fuel in the car had stood for a while and I believe it has clogged up the fuel system. It hesitates on acceleration and I'm currently driving it frequently with super unleaded + additive which seems to be slowly clearing the problem.
It is one of the best shells you will find. Very little to no rust.
Exhaust is in very good condition.
Wheels are good and clean and I have fitted new Vredestein Quantrac 5 all round (incl. spare)
Interior is clean but needs a little ~TLC but dash has suffered from well known 'cracking' issue which looks unsightly but I'm sure can be 'patched up' to look better.
Bodywork - panels are straight but there are a number of small areas where paintwork needs attention.
Other known issues (there may be one or two additional 'unknown' issues:
- Hesitation when accelerating - issue mentioned earlier
- Rear wiper does not work
- Radio does not work and I have replacement speakers on order for the doors.
- Passenger side window does not work
- Rubbers seals for rear tailgate and for side rear windows need replacing and I have these on order.
- Steering wheel is bent because the previous owner put on a steering wheel bar lock and then lost the key!
Spare parts I have include the following;
- Fuel tank with sender unit
- Radiator
- Alternator (New)
- Starter Motor (New)
- Handbrake cable
- Heater motor
- Steering rack
- Front cross member
- Screen wash bottle
- Driver and Passenger Door tinted windows
- Handbooks
- 2 x Repar Manuals
- Targa top cover
- 2 x Tool rolls
Someone with time and a little knowledge will then own one of the best 924's around and just in time for summer.
