Each year I plant 40+ tomato plants in my garden, where I have become nearly self-sufficient by cooking down tomatoes to a sauce with onion, garlic and herbs, then freezing for use over the winter.

You need never buy seeds or tomato plants again…….Collect any fallen tomatoes and place in a plastic container, then bury underground over winter. Dig them up in March the following year, spread over the ground with a light scattering of soil and reap the benefits of many self-seeded and self-grown tomato plants. In doing this, you have much tastier tomatoes, are not buying from supermarkets and are preventing plastic containers going to landfill.
