We are delighted to offer this gorgeous handmade Arts & Crafts Movement Liberty of London piano stool dating to circa 1900. A wonderfully characterful & authentic antique piece, sourced directly from a recent grand estate clearance where it had long been used in the drawing room.
Crafted in solid elm wood, ebonized & with elegant proportions. The stool displays the honest simplicity & quality associated with the Arts & Crafts movement period. The rich dark finish has developed a beautiful natural patination over many decades, with age-related wear that adds greatly to its charm & authenticity.
The golden cane weaved seat in nice string condition & contrasts nicely the frame. Stick side supports & stretchers with wheelback side central decoration. Arched top rails provide a lovely visual detail, complementing the restrained yet refined design.
The stool remains strong, sturdy and stable, making it perfectly suitable for continued practical use, whether as a piano stool, occasional seat, bedside stool or decorative interior piece. Originally purchased from Liberty’s of London, it is a fine example of late Victorian Arts & Crafts design & would sit beautifully within both period & contemporary interiors.
Condition: Lovely antique condition with age-related wear, marks & patination throughout consistent with over 130 years of use. Seat weave remains in good strong sturdy order. Structurally sound & stable. Please study the photographs carefully as they form part of the description.
