Description

Diesel 4-door saloon, that was made to swallow the miles. Unfortunately, they do not make them like this anymore. Usually, I am 800 miles to the tank, and if I try hard (driving at 55 mph), I can get 916 miles on the long run.
The car has 185535 miles on it, and I have owned it since 120000. Mechanically sound, cosmetically, it is about as good as any other car of that age living on the coastline. I have rebuilt the automatic gearbox in it at 150000. Complete GB rebuild, new pistons, clutches, new hydraulic block with all new solenoids. The 2.2L engine is the powerhouse that usually fitted in the vans and you can find plenty of them running with 300000 miles on the clock. My wife decided to get a driving licence, so the insurance quote for the first-time driver on this car is beyond ridiculous, and I can not afford to have two cars and the van on the road. I mostly used the car to drive from Peterhead to Perth at weekends, so having two vehicles is not an option. This car is a top-of-the-range GT model, which puts it in group 33E for insurance.
You do not see them for sale very often, as people keep them because they are super comfy, economical, fun to drive, unique, and they are not the same as modern hybrid junk.
I just put this car through MOT, fitted new brake pads and a new timing belt at 185530. I did not plan to sell, but I have to keep the commanding officer happy.
There is a piece of trim missing at the left side of the front windscreen, and it needs a front parking sensor. I got it like that, and it was never important enough for me to fit new.
