Family Legal Secretary/Assistant
Location: Birmingham
Salary: DOE up to 28k
The Firm
A well-established multi-service law firm with a strong reputation in family law is seeking a proactive and highly organised Family Legal Secretary/assistant to join its busy department. The team undertakes a broad range of private and public family matters and is known for thorough case preparation and attention to detail.
The Role
This is a varied and hands-on role providing direct support to fee earners within the family department. The position offers the opportunity to take on increasing responsibility depending on experience and capability.
Key Responsibilities
Providing full secretarial and administrative support to solicitors
Opening new client files and managing compliance procedures
Booking Counsel, experts and court hearings
Liaising with clients, Counsel, courts and third parties
Perusing large volumes of evidence and preparing detailed, comprehensive notes
Assisting with drafting court documents and correspondence
Managing diaries and key dates
Preparing court bundles (electronic and hard copy)
Depending on experience, attending court to sit behind Counsel and assist during hearings
Skills & Experience
Previous legal secretarial/assistant experience (family law preferred xjnqpsq but not essential)
Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail
Ability to review and summarise complex documents accurately
Good drafting ability and confident written communication
Proficient in Microsoft Office and case management systems
Ability to manage competing deadlines in a busy environment
