Description
Job Title: Court of Protection Paralegal (Health & Welfare)
Salary: £26,000 - £35,000 (DOE)
Location: Watford (Hybrid available)
Job Type: Permanent, Full-time
We are looking for a driven and empathetic paralegal with experience in Court of Protection work. The role offers exposure to a broad range of Health & Welfare matters, including Mental Capacity Act proceedings, with the opportunity to manage your own caseload and develop your expertise within a supportive team environment.
Main Responsibilities:
* Managing a caseload of Court of Protection matters, including s.16 and s.21A MCA 2005 proceedings
* Supporting solicitors on a range of Health & Welfare cases
* Liaising with clients, experts, and the Official Solicitor
* Drafting legal documents, correspondence, and preparing bundles
* Conducting legal research and preparing case summaries
* Managing client files and maintaining accurate records
* Attending and assisting with hearings and client meetings
Essential Skills and Experience:
* Minimum 1 year’s experience in Court of Protection (Health & Welfare) work
* Strong knowledge of the Mental Capacity Act 2005 and relevant case law
* Legal aid experience (advantageous)
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritise effectively
