Description

Service Care Legal are recruting on behalf of a highly reputable London Borough Council who are seeking a Childcare Lawyer to join their team on a contract basis. Please find below further details with regards to the role and requirements.

Job Title - Childcare Lawyer

Location - Central London

Duration - 3-month assignment, 36 hours per week, 2 days per week in the office

Rate - £40.00 - £43.09ph umbrella / £38.08ph PAYE inc. holiday pay / £33.98ph PAYE exc. holidy pay

About the Role:

Provide expert legal advice and guidance on childcare matters to colleagues, managers, and partner agencies.

Manage a diverse caseload of childcare matters and contribute to high-profile cases.

Ensure compliance with legal frameworks and deliver timely and accurate legal and procedural advice.

Support the Principal Solicitor and Director of Law on significant, politically sensitive cases.Experience:

Proven experience advising on local authority duties and powers relating to children and young adults.Skills & Knowledge:

Strong knowledge of childcare law, related legislation, and case law.

Awareness of local government law and decision-making processes (desirable but not essential).

Effective communication, negotiation, and drafting skills.

Ability to work collaboratively, handle sensitive issues diplomatically, and maintain detail-focused compliance.

Digital proficiency and willingness to embrace agile and flexible working.Qualifications:

Qualified Solicitor, Barrister, or Fellow of CILEx entitled to practice in England and Wales.
