Description
Oil Painting of Robin Williams.
Painting, including Frame: 32" x 26"
This painting is an original, purchased at a gallery exhibition in Glasgow, by the artist Robert Miller, a well known artist and musician.
As per photograph, the painting is on canvas and has been framed.
Background:
The painting depicts Robin Williams, dressed in Scottish attire whilst holding a can of Irn Bru. The history behind it, is that Robin Williams was in Scotland filming ‘Being Human’, circa 1992/3, and during a break Robin picked up a can of Irn Bru, whilst perched on a dyke wall. Gavin Mitchell, who plays Boaby the barman in Still Game, who also had a role in the film, took a photograph of this pose, and captured the moment forever.
The artist, Robert Miller, saw this picture, and decided to capture this moment in a painting. It was later displayed at his exhibition, where it was purchased. At the same exhibition a portrait of Amy Winehouse was bought by her mother, as she said it was the best likeness of her late daughter- praise indeed for the artist, and his work can be viewed on his own website.
The film ‘Being Human’ was directed by Bill Forsyth, released in 1994, and also starred Robert Carlyle, Ewan McGregor and John Turturro, to name a few.
I am reluctantly selling this treasured picture due to downsizing over 4 years ago. I initially decided to keep it, but have no room to hang it now, and it has been lying stored, meaning no one can appreciate it.
I have decided to list it for £800 or nearest realistic offer.
