Brief Description:
This is a superb, original 19th-century English School miniature Oil on Panel Painting depicting a wonderfully atmospheric coastal view near Anstey's Cove, Torquay, Devon.

The charming composition portrays dramatic rocky outcrops rising above the tranquil waters, with seabirds circling overhead, a small moored sailing boat in the foreground and further vessels visible on the distant horizon.
Painted with lovely attention to detail, the artist has beautifully captured the rugged Devonshire coastline through delicate brushwork and a subtle palette of warm earthy tones.
The original oak panel bears an old handwritten inscription verso reading "Near Anstay's Cove, Torquay".
Recently remounted within an attractive, quality two-tone moulded frame with a contrasting pale inner slip.
A delightful and highly decorative little coastal painting, full of period character and maritime charm.
