VINTAGE Pendant Ladies Painted Portrait Pearl String Necklace Silver Metal Period Costume Theatre

Description

VINTAGE dainty decorative tapered pearl stone necklace with a painted female portrait pendant. The portrait is sealed by a convex curved glass material which has been delicately surrounded by smaller pearl type stones and ornate lattice filigree silver coloured metal work. The pendant is attached onto the necklace by a single shaped filigree loop. The silver filigree metal work appears to have two stamped markings on an oval shaped disc on the reverse of the pendant, at the base and also on the clasp. The necklace stones are complete, tapered in size, graduating smaller to the clasp mechanism. It is a very unusual ornate piece. The measurements of the pendant is quoted in cms: Height: 3 ½, Width: 3. Necklace (flat): 23, one side and 21 on the opposite string secured by the clasp. I have no details concerning the piece, it is an item that belonged to a relative.
